TOM Killick challenged Dorchester Town to finish their season “in style” with victory against AFC Totton on Saturday (3pm).

The Magpies welcome the Stags to the Avenue Stadium on the cusp of their best finishing position for 11 years, should they claim eighth or highest possible seventh.

Totton, meanwhile, can guarantee second place with victory.

Dorchester constructed a sublime 12-game unbeaten run to put themselves on a late run towards the play-offs, which ended in a 3-1 defeat at Basingstoke on Saturday.

However, Killick is determined to end the campaign on a fitting note and hopes the Magpies’ faithful flocks to the Avenue to help celebrate a tremendous season.

He told Echosport: “We know we’ve got a really tough game but I hope people come down in numbers. The impact has been good in recent home games.

“We want to try and get an occasion down there that everyone really enjoys in terms of spectators and we want to have a real positivity about the place.

“The players have got to have one last go to finish things off in style. We wanted to be in the mix in terms of the play-offs, that’s not the case.

“Totton are a brilliant team, really well-run who are on their way up this year or another. I’ve got no doubt they’re going to push on.

“So, we’ve got a great chance with a home game to really pit ourselves against, in my view, one of the best sides in the division and show people how far we’ve come and the potential we’ve got.

“I don’t want to turn down that opportunity. I want us to really embrace that and go out with a bit of style.”
