Motorists are being warned of delays as the A31 undergoes a period of closures.

National Highways will be carrying out horticulture work, including cutting and planting along the verges, between Ashley Heath and junction 1 of the M27.

Carriageway closures will be in effect in both directions of the road for the maintenance work starting from the evening of Tuesday, May 7.

The closures will be in force from 9pm until 6am each night until Friday morning, May 10.

A signed diversion route will be in place for late night drivers making their way between county borders.

If coming into Dorset, motorists should come off at Cadnam, down the A337 Southampton Road, through Lyndhurst and onto the A35 through the New Forest before arriving back in Christchurch and vice versa for those heading out of Dorset.

The dual carriageway can be rejoined from Ashley Heath roundabout.
