FAMILY-run jewellers Kooky Bloom are set to open their second store in Weymouth.

The first store was opened on Antelope Walk in Dorchester in 2022, but owner Sophie Mitchell announced they would be opening on St Alban Street on Saturday, June 15.

The small business boasts big-name customers including Sheridan Smith, Josie Gibson and Alisson Hammond.

They also provided bridesmaid jewellery and a wedding bouquet for TV presenter Stacey Solomon.

Sophie Mitchell said she was excited to be opening in Weymouth and was particularly pleased with the new location of the shop.

She said: "We are super excited to open in Weymouth, in my home town.

"My friend owns Limelight on St Alban Street next door and when she said that the unit had become available we had to go for it.

"It is the only kind of street we wanted to be on, we love St Alban Street because it is full of local independent businesses.

"We have a lot of online customers from Weymouth so it will be nice for them to be able to drop in and see us face-to-face at the new shop."

The business was set up during the first lockdown as a means of staying busy.

Kooky Bloom specialises in real flower jewellery and began through a love of all things floral and unusual.

What started as “just a hobby” soon turned into a full-time job with over 45,000 items of hand-crafted jewellery being sold worldwide when the online store opened for orders.

Sophie opened her first store in 2022 and soon "fell in love" with the location on Antelope Walk.

She said: "We went to Dorchester not knowing the area that well.

"But we soon fell in love with the building and we loved being able to meet our customers face-to-face.

"It has been brilliant and we are excited to meet more of our customers in Weymouth."

She told people "not to panic" and assured customers that the store on Antelope Walk is "not going anywhere".

Kooky Bloom will open on June 15 with a celebration of fizz, goody bags, and Mr. Blobby doughnuts.
